In April 2022, I started working with the wonderful organisation that is The Parenting Network. The Parenting Network is a non profit charitable organisation working to empower parents and build a supportive community of families who live within the city of Portsmouth. Over the past 9 months more opportunities have arisen for me, resulting in me now working with them pretty much full time! As a result, I made the hard decision to stop offering Daisy Foundation classes – Daisy Birthing and Daisy Baby. I’ve been teaching these classes for nearly 11 years, so this was not an easy decision to make, but it was definitely the right one.
So what am I doing instead? Well, I’ve been so lucky to be able to shape my role at The Parenting Network, and I am now co-running their group for young mums, and have set up the baby massage project, and am currently designing an antenatal workshop. Basically I’m still getting to do all the things I love, but in an employed capacity, alongside the most amazing team! I’ve always said I’d love to be able to offer classes for free, but sadly that doesn’t pay the bills, however working with The Parenting Network means I get to do exactly that! Everything we offer is free to attend. Sessions are aimed at people who can’t access the Monday to Friday offerings that are out there, be that because they’re working, that they have older children, or that they’re just feeling the pinch financially at the moment. The organisation runs on grants from local and national pots, enabling us to do this.
What does this mean for you? It means you can still come and see me if you want to, and also access the other groups we run. We have a weekly Dadzclub on Saturday mornings (10-11.30am at Buckland Family Hub) and a weekly Families group on Saturday mornings (9.30-11am at Somerstown Family Hub). Baby massage is currently running on alternte Saturdays (9.30-11am at Somerstown Family Hub), and we will soon have a weekly baby massage group running as well. Our Young Mums Group is for anyone 25 and under. It runs on Mondays (10-11.30am at Somerstown Family Hub) and Thursdays (11am-12.30pm at Buckland Family Hub).
On top of all this we have the Portsmouth Baby Bank, supporting families in need, whether it’s big items such as buggies and cots, or day-to-day items like nappies and wipes.
